Jag tycker om vackra platser, sådana som man längtar efter att återkomma till och som man aldrig riktigt kan sluta beundra – platser där landskap, arkitektur och aktivitet förenas i en helhetsupplevelse: ett gesamtkunstwerk. Det är med denna önskan om att skapa hela platser som jag har närmat mig fältet landskapsarkitektur och det är denna väg som jag blir allt mer intresserad av att gå ju mer jag lär mig. Jag tror på det vackra som en väg mot ett mer meningsfullt liv.

Strävan efter en fullkomligare helhet har varit min intention i nästan alla mina arbeten i denna portfolio. En mer human miljö som är lugn och trivsam, rotad i en känsla som resonerar med oss och där man på riktigt kan trivas. Detta är motsatsen till det maskinartade som gör varje människa och ting till en likformig kloss, alienerad från både sig själv och andra.

Att förstå en plats, finna dess säregna identitet och ge uttryck för den – att länka samman den minsta biten med den största händelsen, det inre med det yttre – detta tror jag är viktigt för att hitta ett alternativ till de generiska och estetiskt fattiga miljöer som utgör majoriteten av det som byggs idag.

För mig är det viktigt att få känna in och uppleva – att få använda alla mina sinnen och min intuitiva sida av min personlighet. Jag är i första hand en visuell och taktil kommunikatör, men tycker också om att uttrycka mig i text. Även om jag är filosofiskt lagd och kan drömma stort är jag likaledes intresserad av det som är praktiskt och jordnära. Bäst trivs jag i gemytliga och inbjudande miljöer, byggda med omsorg, med levande material och välbalanserat ljus. Det är den sortens platser jag tror att vi behöver skapa mer av för att känna mening och må bra.

I like beautiful places, places you long to return to and that you never really stop admiring – places where landscape, architecture and activity merge in a holistic experience: a gestamtkunstwerk. It is with this wish to create whole places that I have approached the field landscape architecture and it is this direction that I become ever more interested to go the more I learn. I believe in beauty as a way towards a more meaningful life.

The strive for a more complete whole has been my intention in almost all of my works in this portfolio. A more humane environment that is calm and pleasant, rooted in a feeling that resonates in us and where you really can thrive. This is the opposite to the machine-like that turns every man and thing to a uniform block, alienated both from itself and its surroundings.

To understand a place, to find its peculiar identity and express it – to link the smallest thing with the largest event, the inner with the outer – this I believe to be important to find an alternative to the generic and aesthetically poor surroundings that make up the majority of what is built today.

For me it is important to feel and experience – to make use of all my senses and the intuitive side of my personality. I am first and foremost a visual and tactile communicator, but I also enjoy expressing myself though text. Even though I tend to the more philosophical side and am able to dream big I am as interested in the practical and down to earth. I feel most at home in warm and welcoming environments, built with care, with living materials and balanced lighting. It is these kind of places I believe we must create more of to get a sense of meaning and wellbeing.
